My Ministry is About Him
Last week we showed this video as part of a video montage (a bunch of you tube clips that lay out the gospel-Greatness of God and His Creation, sin, Jesus and the cross and then our mission given) at our weekly meeting. Awesome videos causing the ache in my heart for the lost to be reached to buldge.
I told Austin about my discouragement and through our discussion, the Lord reminded me that I don't do what I do because of the fruit but out of obedience. He called us here, to reach the lost students of Denver, to evangelize, establish, equip and mobilize them to go. I need to do that because it is what the Lord wants of me.
Our calling/job/ministry (whichever word you'd prefer to use) is not about me, it's about Him. He is the One that sends. He is the Lord of the Harvest, not me. How self-serving to abandon His call because I don't get to see the fruit I want to. All I can do is take the initative in the power of the Holy Spirit to do what He told me to do and leave the results up to Him.
Then I can say I didn't waste it. (this video is awesome!)
Many who are called to live in a most closed country are not there, but here. We have it backwards, we think, "I will stay unless I'm called." But really, all are already called to Go and we should only stay unless we are specifically called to do so.
And this brings me back to what I wrote about the mighty men who honored and valued their king David so highly. How they went to get him water because that is what he desired, what he longed for. And our King, the Great, Creator and Mighty King thirsts for souls. He passionately wants them to know Him. Our mission is about Him. As easy as it is to make it about us, for me to make it about me and getting to see fruit. It's just not. Even if I never see the Lord of the harvest use me to send one more laborer to the harvest, I will fetch what my King desires, I will do as He longs me to do for His pleasure, not mine.
