God's Relevant Word Giving the Provision of Perspective

I love how relevant God is! And how relevant His Word is, so personally applicable to each of our lives.

I was reading this week about David and how God called Him to be king. Where God leads, He provides right?! Well, I generally think of God's provision in a tiny little box. I think of Him providing materially. But I was blown away by how God provided in so many different ways!!! Check this out.
1 Chronicles 12:23-40
These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul's kingdom over to him, as the LORD had said: men of Judah, carrying shield and spear--6,800 armed for battle;  men of Simeon, warriors ready for battle--7,100; men of Levi--4,600, including Jehoiada, leader of the family of Aaron, with 3,700 men,  and Zadok, a brave young warrior, with 22 officers from his family; men of Benjamin, Saul's kinsmen--3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to Saul's house until then; men of Ephraim, brave warriors, famous in their own clans--20,800;  men of half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king--18,000;  men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do--200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty--50,000;  men of Naphtali--1,000 officers, together with 37,000 men carrying shields and spears; men of Dan, ready for battle--28,600; men of Asher, experienced soldiers prepared for battle--40,000; and from east of the Jordan, men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, armed with every type of weapon--120,000.  All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.  The men spent three days there with David, eating and drinking, for their families had supplied provisions for them. Also, their neighbors from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun and Naphtali came bringing food on donkeys, camels, mules and oxen. There were plentiful supplies of flour, fig cakes, raisin cakes, wine, oil, cattle and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.

God provided what was needed:
Mentally- brave, ready, one mind, undivided loyalty, experienced, understood the times
Emotionally- brave, joy
Materially- every kind of weapon
Socially- leaders, high reputations
Experiencially- lots of experience
Sustenacially (is that a word?)- lots of food

The Lord's provision is intricatly beautiful!

And Him changing our perspective is just one of the pieces of His beautiful provision. Here's a great video of how God changes our perspective.

How has He provided for you today?

Tuesday is the start of the
Not About Me November Challenge. I would love for you to participate for the 17 weekdays leading up to Thanksgiving. It will be an incredible time of preparing our hearts for the holiday season reminding our hearts that 'it's not about me'.

On Tuesday and every weekday till Thanksgiving, I will put up a link for you to link up your posts. And then put your url in your twitter update with the hashtag #notaboutmenovember
I would LOVE to partner with you in bragging on God. Just link up your posts that Brag On God and put a link to this list or put my button code (found on the side bar) on your post for people to find these other great blogs bragging about the greatness of God.

And, while you're at it, link up your posts that tell how awesome God is on the Permanent Brag On God Mosaic found under the Brag on God Friday's Link Up tab and help decorate the tab for the glory of God. (It will be up for at least 2 years of fun!)

Good insights! I tend to think of His provision more on the physical/material side of things, too. But its even the emotional - good to remember!
Planning to link up on Tuesday. A perfect example of God going ahead and providing: Fits so amazingly with the direction I figured on taking my posts in November, and with what God's just been teaching me about biblical humility's real meaning!

God provides not always what we want, but just what we need. David is an excellent example.

Thank you for hosting this blog site.

God always provides what we need. We can trust His ways, for He sees the big picture! That video is great! I've seen it before and marvel at how true it is. When we reverse our thinking it all makes so much sense!

Blessings, Joan

Hi Laura, Wonderful post! He knows what we need before we even ask Him, and He provides in all ways for His children!

I'm sorry that when I entered Brag-On-God Friday, the first time I tried it just now I inadvertently had the wrong URL. I didn't know how to correct it, so I submitted it again with the correct URL. So #25 is the wrong URL and you can delete it if you like, and #26 has the correct URL. My apologies.

God's blessings to you and to all the B-O-G bloggers!

Laura, thank you for using these passages to clearly point out that God REALLY provides everything that's needed to carry out His purposes and plans triumphantly. He provided the ram for Abraham; He provided Jesus, a lamb without blemish, to take away the sin of the world.

And I've seen, and continue to see, His provisions and mighty deeds in our life. This is the reason I write - to make His wonders known.

Thank you for hosting and have a blessed weekend,
Rina

God does provide! Sometimes it's hard for us to see it in the midst of a trial, but later, when we recount, we realize that God was blessing and providing all throughout!
